Under HM King’s patronage and in Al Azhar Grand Imam’s presence, SCIA President highlights common values and Muslim unity at Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference

Senior Islamic scholars, leaders, and religious authorities participated in the Intra-Islamic Dialogue Conference in Bahrain, held under the theme “One Nation, One Shared Destiny.”

The conference, hosted under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, was attended by His Eminence Professor Dr. Ahmed El Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, alongside more than 400 scholars, leaders, and intellectuals from various Islamic institutions worldwide.

In his remarks during the opening ceremony, Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (SCIA), highlighted the importance of strengthening common ground among Islamic sects and reinforcing principles that promote constructive thinking and behaviour.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed emphasised that coexistence, mutual understanding, harmony, and respect must remain fundamental principles that are upheld without compromise.

The opening ceremony, held today, was organised by Al Azhar, the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Bahrain, and the Muslim Council of Elders.  The conference was attended by senior officials, religious scholars, judges, ambassadors, and dignitaries.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed conveyed the greetings of HM the King, underscoring His Majesty’s commitment to the conference’s objectives and his best wishes for its success in serving the Islamic nation and humanity.  He also relayed the greetings of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed underscored the responsibility of leaders, scholars, and intellectuals to unify ranks and prioritise the collective interests of Muslims.  He called for a shared vision for a prosperous future through constructive dialogue and cooperation.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed also commended the historic call made by His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al Azhar at the Bahrain Dialogue Forum to convene such an Islamic dialogue, bringing together scholars and leaders to foster unity and mutual understanding.

Shaikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed highlighted Bahrain’s long-standing model of coexistence, shaped by its strategic location as a meeting point of civilisations and a centre for trade and maritime.

The SCIA President emphasised that Bahrain’s unique diversity serves as a fundamental pillar of its development, with a broad spectrum of religions, sects, and ethnicities coexisting peacefully and fostering a culture of harmony and mutual respect.
