Born in 1961 in Shutoura, Sohag Governorate, Egypt, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Shouman earned his bachelor’s degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies in 1985, specializing in Islamic Sharia. He received his master’s degree in 1991 and earned his Ph.D. in Islamic Jurisprudence (Fiqh) in 1994 from Al-Azhar University. He has held several prominent roles, including Al Azhar Deputy Sheikh from 2013 to 2018, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, and Supervisor of Fatwa at Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. He also chaired the Supreme Committee for Reconciliation at Al-Azhar.
