Born in Khorramabad on January 14, 1961, he studied at the religious seminary, specializing in jurisprudence and its principles. He was a member of the scientific body at the University of Religions and Sects in Iran, and was known for his prominent role in the field of calling for rapprochement between the Shiite and Sunni Islamic sects. He also held many positions, most notably: Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran at the International Islamic Fiqh Academy of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Head of the Islamic Research Center in the Islamic Consultative Assembly, Head of the University of Islamic Sects, and the Center for Renewal for Comparative Religious Studies in Lebanon, and Editor-in-Chief of the magazines: “Religion and Law” and “Comparative Jurisprudence.”
