Born in 1963 in Bou Saada, M’Sila Province, His Excellency Dr. Youssef Belmehdi obtained his State Doctorate in Islamic Sciences from the Faculty of Usuluddin at the University of Algiers. Throughout his career, he has held several prominent roles, including Advisor at the Ministry of Religious Affairs from 2007 to 2012, Director of Religious Guidance and Quranic Education from 2012 to 2015, and Secretary-General of the League of Ulema, Imams, and Preachers of the Sahel Countries starting in 2016. He is also a member of the Fatwa Committee at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Endowments. Since 2015, he has been an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences at the University of M’Sila, and has served as Algeria’s Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments since 2019.
